The Export Promotion Mission (EPM) was launched on 20th February 2026 by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry to strengthen export competitiveness, especially for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), first-time exporters and labour-intensive sectors. Announced in the Union Budget 2025-26, EPM brings multiple export-support initiatives under a single, outcome-based and digitally enabled framework. The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) is the nodal implementing agency. Objectives The Export Promotion Mission is designed to: Strengthen India’s export competitiveness by improving access to affordable and timely trade finance. Enable MSMEs and first-time exporters to participate more effectively in global trade. Enhance export readiness through targeted support for quality standards, certification and regulatory compliance. Expand international market access through branding, promotion and trade facilitation measures. Broaden the geographic base of exports by supporting exporters in non-traditional and low-export-intensity districts. Support employment generation and value creation in labour-intensive manufacturing and services. Scheme duration With a budgetary outlay of Rs. 25,060 crores, the scheme is for a period of six years from FY 2025–26 to FY 2030–31. Scheme components EPM is aimed at strengthening India’s export competitiveness—particularly for MSMEs. The Mission shall operate through two integrated sub-schemes: NIRYAT PROTSAHAN, focused on improving access to trade finance through instruments such as interest subvention, alternative trade instruments, collateral guarantees for export credit, credit for e-commerce exporters, and credit enhancement support. It has five sub-components: Interest subvention for pre- and post-shipment export credit Collateral guarantee support for MSME exporters Export factoring and supply-chain finance Credit card for e-commerce exporters Credit enhancement and risk-sharing for new markets NIRYAT DISHA, focused on other trade enablers such as export quality and compliance support, international branding and packaging, market access initiatives, export logistics & warehousing, and trade intelligence.
