Introduction The NTR Baby Kit Scheme is a maternal and child welfare initiative of the Government of Andhra Pradesh aimed at ensuring a healthy start to life for newborns while encouraging institutional deliveries. The scheme was first introduced in 2016 during. Its primary purpose was to reduce risks associated with home deliveries and improve maternal and infant health outcomes through timely medical supervision. After a brief discontinuation in 2019, the NTR Baby Kit Scheme had again revived across Andhra Pradesh from the year 2024. The relaunch reflects the government’s renewed focus on strengthening public healthcare systems and promoting safe childbirth practices. The scheme is implemented by the Department of Health, Medical & Family Welfare, Government of Andhra Pradesh, which acts as the nodal department. Under this scheme, mothers who give birth in government-run healthcare institutions are provided with a free baby care kit containing essential items required during the initial months after birth.
