Introduction Lakhpati Bitiya Yojana is a flagship financial assistance scheme introduced by the Government of NCT of Delhi to promote the education and long-term financial security of girl children. The scheme provides stage-wise financial support from birth until higher education, enabling eligible girls to receive benefits at important educational milestones. The scheme was officially launched on 2 March 2026 and became operational across Delhi from 1 April 2026. It is administered by the Department of Women and Child Development (WCD), Government of Delhi. Under the revised framework, the Government has replaced the earlier Ladli Scheme with an enhanced financial assistance model that offers a higher maturity value for eligible beneficiaries. Instead of releasing the entire amount at once, the Government makes investments at different stages of a girl's education. These investments are managed through the official Delhi Lakhpati Bitiya Yojana Portal in association with SBI Life Insurance. On successful completion of all prescribed milestones, eligible beneficiaries may receive financial benefits of around ₹1.25 lakh, which can be utilised for higher education or future career development. The scheme is available for a maximum of two girl children in a family. Parents or legal guardians must submit the application within the prescribed timeline for each eligible stage to continue receiving financial assistance. Benefits Stage-wise financial assistance is provided from birth until higher education. The total maturity value may reach approximately ₹1,25,000 for eligible beneficiaries. Financial support is released at different educational milestones to encourage continuous education.
