Introduction Women play a vital role in every family and society. From taking care of household responsibilities to nurturing children, they contribute endlessly to the well-being of their families. However, many women do not have a stable source of personal income, which often affects their financial independence and quality of life. To support such women and ensure a basic level of economic security, the Government of Goa introduced a welfare initiative called the Griha Aadhar Scheme. The objective of this scheme is to provide monthly financial assistance to eligible women so that they can maintain a dignified standard of living. The scheme is implemented by the Directorate of Women and Child Development, Goa. Under this program, eligible women receive financial support of Rs. 1,500 per month. Earlier, the amount was Rs. 1,200, but it was increased to Rs. 1,500 from 1st September 2016 to offer better assistance. Married women, widows, and divorced women can benefit from this scheme, provided they meet the eligibility criteria. However, women whose family income exceeds Rs. 3,00,000 per year are not eligible. Beneficiaries of the Dayanand Social Security Scheme are generally excluded, except widows who are already receiving benefits under that scheme. Applications can be submitted through both online and offline modes, and the status can be tracked on the Goa Online Citizen Services Portal.
