Introduction The Government of Meghalaya has introduced the Chief Minister's Scholarship Scheme as a major step toward strengthening the education sector in the state. The scheme was first announced during the Budget 2025-26, and it was officially launched on 25 August 2025. The main objective of this initiative is to support students financially so that they can continue their studies without facing economic barriers. Under this scheme, students from Class 11 to Ph.D. level will receive financial assistance to help cover educational expenses such as books, study materials, and other academic needs. The responsibility of implementing this scheme has been assigned to the Education Department of Meghalaya. The entire application and payment process will be conducted online through the Meghalaya One Portal, ensuring transparency and timely disbursement of benefits. Around 80,000 students across the state are expected to benefit from this scholarship every year. Benefits Students studying between Class 11 and Ph.D. level will receive financial support every year. Each selected student will get a scholarship of Rs. 6,000 per annum. The amount will be directly credited to the student’s bank account through DBT mode. The scheme is open to students from all income categories, with no income limit restrictions. The application process is fully digital, making it easy and accessible for students across Meghalaya. Eligibility To apply for the Chief Minister's Scholarship Scheme, students must fulfill the following conditions :- The applicant must be a permanent resident of Meghalaya. Students studying in regular full-time courses from Class 11 to Ph.D. are eligible. The student must have :- A valid and active bank account. A working mobile number. An active email ID. Students enrolled in distance learning or part-time courses are not eligible. There is no family income limit, so students from all economic backgrounds can apply. Documents Applicants must keep the following documents ready before filling the form :- Any one identity proof from the list :- Ration/ PDS Card. Voter ID Card. MHIS Card. MGNREGA Card. Meghalaya Bonafide Certificate. Self Declaration by the applicant. Bank Account details or Cancelled Cheque. Recent Photograph. Latest Examination Marksheet. Mobile Number. Email ID. Process to Apply Students can apply for the scholarship through the Meghalaya One Portal by following these simple steps :- Visit the official Meghalaya One Portal and open the Services section. Register / Login to Apply Registration can be done using either :- PDS/Ration Card Number, or EPIC (Voter ID) Number. Fill in the registration form and submit it. Upload all required documents in PDF format. Preview the form and click on Submit. All submitted applications will be verified by the Education Department.
