<h3>Introduction</h3> <ul> <li>The Indiramma Saree Scheme is a flagship welfare initiative introduced by the Telangana Government with the objective of supporting women from economically weaker backgrounds.</li> <li>The scheme was officially launched on 19 November 2025 by the state government of Telangana</li> <li>Through this programme, the state government seeks to provide brand-new sarees free of cost to women across Telangana.</li> <li>Clothing is a basic household necessity, and by addressing this need, the government aims to reduce everyday expenses for women while also recognising their role in families and society.</li> <li>To manage the scale effectively, the administration decided to implement the scheme in two structured phases, covering rural and urban areas separately.</li> <li>Around 1 crore women beneficiaries will going to receive free saree under this scheme out of which 65 lakh women are from Rural area and 35 lakh women are from Urban Area.</li> </ul> <h3>Phase of Scheme</h3> <ul> <li>Phase 1 for Rural Beneficiaries :- 19-11-2025 to 09-12-2025. </li> <li>Phase 2 for Urban Beneficiaries :- 01-03-2026 to 08-03-2026.</li> </ul> <h3>Benefits</h3> <ul> <li>The Indiramma Saree Scheme offers multiple benefits to eligible women beneficiaries :- <ul> <li>Women receive new sarees completely free of cost, without paying any fee.</li> <li>The scheme targets one crore women across Telangana.</li> <li>Distribution takes place in a phase-wise manner for better transparency and administration.</li> <li>The first phase focuses on rural women beneficiaries.</li> <li>The second phase covers women residing in urban and municipal areas.</li> <li>Sarees distributed under the scheme are woven by handloom workers from Sircilla, helping preserve traditional weaving practices and support local artisans.</li> <li>The scheme reduces household expenses and provides direct material support to women.</li> </ul> </li> </ul> <h3>Eligibility</h3> <ul> <li>To receive benefits under the Indiramma Saree Scheme, women must meet the following eligibility conditions :- <ul> <li>The beneficiary must be a permanent resident of Telangana State.</li> <li>Women from both rural and urban areas are eligible for the scheme.</li> <li>The District Administration selects beneficiaries based on caste census data already available with the government.</li> <li>No separate income certificate or fresh survey is required.</li> <li>Women belonging to economically weaker and deserving households receive saree in priority.</li> </ul> </li> </ul> <h3>Documents</h3> <ul> <li>Only minimal documentation is required under this scheme :- <ul> <li>Aadhaar Card for identity verification.</li> <li>Mobile number, preferably linked with Aadhaar.</li> </ul> </li> <li>At the distribution camps, officials verify the beneficiary’s identity using Aadhaar authentication and facial recognition, ensuring transparency and preventing misuse.</li> </ul> <h3>Process to Apply</h3> <ul> <li>Women do not need to submit any application to avail benefits under the Indiramma Saree Scheme.</li> <li>The District Collectors already possess beneficiary data collected during the caste census, which they use to finalise the list of eligible women.</li> <li>During the first phase, the District Administration, with support from Gram Panchayats, organised saree distribution camps in rural areas from 19 November 2025 to 9 December 2025.</li> <li>Rural women beneficiaries could visit these camps and collect their sarees after identity verification.</li> <li>In the second phase, the administration will conduct similar camps in urban areas with the help of Municipal Corporations from 1 March 2026 to 8 March 2026.</li> <li>Urban women residents must visit the designated camps to receive sarees free of cost.</li> <li>Officials present at the camps supervise the process to ensure smooth distribution and fairness.</li> </ul> <h3>Contact</h3> <ul> <li>For any assistance, clarification, or grievance related to the Indiramma Saree Scheme, beneficiaries may contact :- <ul> <li>The local Gram Panchayat Office (for rural areas), or</li> <li>The Municipal Corporation Office (for urban areas).</li> </ul> </li> </ul>
